Biography

Eliza Clifford is a Philadelphia-based multidisciplinary artist, printmaker, and arts educator. She is currently an MFA Printmaking candidate at the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University.

Her work investigates how we look, perceive, and remember through both digital and craft-based technologies. Working across printmaking, book arts, textiles, alternative photography, natural dyeing, quilting, and sewing, she collages, weaves, and reconstructs images and material surfaces to explore memory, transformation, and the layered nature of human experience. Her practice examines cycles of erosion, repair, and persistence, creating memory-landscapes that reflect the tensions between permanence and change, intimacy and fragmentation, within our internal and external environments.

Clifford has taught and worked at organizations including Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, Women’s Studio Workshop, the Museum of Contemporary Art Arlington, and the Metropolitan Center for Visual Arts (VisArts). She has completed artist residencies at the Torpedo Factory Art Center, Remarque Print Workshop, and Penland School of Craft.

Her work is held in national collections including the University of Pittsburgh, The Ohio State University, and the Kansas State University Print Archive. She has exhibited at venues such as Pyramid Atlantic Art Center, Washington Printmakers Gallery, the Baltimore Fine Print Fair, the Morgan Conservatory, the Torpedo Factory Art Center, Kent State University, the McLean Project for the Arts, and VisArts. Most recently, she presented her first solo exhibition, The Flowers We Keep, at VisArts.
